Jan Šramek

Visual artist, illustrator and educator. Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Technology in Brno, he co-founded the Video Atelier with Martin Mazanec. Together with Pavel Liška he founded the web project Padesatky.info, which explores the visual culture of 1950s Czechoslovakia. His publications include Pražské vize (Prague, 2017), Zvláštní okolnosti (Prague, 2016), Pionýři a Roboti (Prague, 2016), Letenský Glosář (Prague, 2016), Postavit domy nestačí (Prague, 2015) and Ztracená Perspektiva (Prague, 2013). His work has been presented in many international venues, including London, New York, Amsterdam, Seoul and Beijing. He participated in the realization of the Czechoslovak Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2014. Recently, he received the Czech Grand Design Illustrator's Award 2017 for his illustrations for the book "Zvláštní okolnosti" and the exhibition "Paneland".
