Josef Čapek
Josef Čapek (* March 23, 1887, Hronov – † April 1945, Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, Germany) was a Czech painter, writer, photographer and graphic artist, and the younger brother of Karel Čapek. Josef Čapek was one of the most versatile artists in Czech interwar culture and a representative of the so-called Čapek Generation. He worked as a painter, graphic artist, illustrator and scenic painter, and is one of the founders of modern visual art. His work also expresses his social commitment.
